Beard Hair Transplant
A beard transplant is a hair recovery method in which the surgeon transplants the hair with follicular unit extraction techniques (FUE) and tools into the scalp. Beard transplants can also refer to any procedure that reconstructs a new beard or enhances an existing beard–the surgeon transplants scalp hair to areas of the face on a case - by - case basis for these reconstructive beard surgeries. The use of beard hair as a restaurant method is not used by many clinics and is generally regarded as a fringe.
Why use Beard Hair rather than Scalp Hair?
In most hair transplants, the surgeon removes the hair from the back of the scalp–the donor area–and transplants it to anywhere it is needed. Hair from this area of the scalp appears to be especially resistant to hair loss and is usually hard enough to withstand the transplant.
However, not all patients have enough hair in the donor area and some patients may not have scalp hair. Body hair derived from the arms, legs, and thorn is the next best alternative in these situations. Again, not all patients have hair of this kind. Face hair can be removed and transplanted into other areas of the scalp in these cases.
Beard hair transplants can be used for male hair loss (MPH) patients, but not for other types of alopecia.
